The International Coach Federation was created to monitor and encourage the coaching profession, maintain high standards of the coaching profession and to help further develop the coaching community across the globe.
As the global support organization for the coaching industry, the ICF trains and certifies coaches and offers key advice for those looking to become involved with the ICF. There are three main coaching programs available for prospective students; they are the ACTP (Accredited Coach Training Program), the ACSTH (Approved Coach Specific Training Hours), and the CCE (Continuing Coaching Education Provider).
The International Coach Federation offers a credentialing procedure for the advancement of the coaching profession. The credentialing was created to set and maintain standards for recognizing coaches and respective coaching authorities. The program was also created to ensure that participating coaches meet or exceed these minimum standards; and to solidify the professional coaching profession as a self-regulating body.
The International Coach Federation has done much to further the coaching profession and even sponsors publicity campaigns and marketing strategies in an effort to make it easier for people to find the right coach to suit their needs.
