College Basketball Coaching Salary

Making a college basketball coaching salary is hard to compete with. In this day and age, especially at schools with top ranked basketball programs, college basketball coaches are making a pretty penny. Just how pretty? The top college basketball coaching salary tops $2 million a year after base, perks, and incentives. Coaching college basketball never looked so good.

While lower division I college basketball coaches only make a little over $100,000 a year, that is still better than many other professions, and their team does not even have to be any good. For those coaches whose teams are any good, they receive a majority of their yearly college basketball coaching salary from apparel deals negotiated through the school. Even better, some coaches even get their mortgage paid, on the residence of their choice, for a stipulated amount of time, free cars, country club memberships, and another $250,000 to $500,000 per year for conducting a summer camp.

As you can see, being a top ranked basketball coach definitely has its benefits. On the other hand, the road to earning one million dollars or more per year is difficult; for the lucky few that do, are the truly talented among the most talented. It is also important to note that, if the coaches making dazzling salaries do not meet the expectations of the school and their teams begin to flounder, it can be very easy to lose that great job and its amazing incentives, which makes making it all the way to that great job only half of the battle.
